FACILITIES
Departments
IEMA is located in Plaka (105 Adrianou st.), the old town of Athens. The facilities of the institute consist of: a meeting room, four offices equipped with computer workstations, a DTP department, extensive on-line Intranet - Internet services, an archive department, the Experimental Lab of Musical Instruments and the Computer Music and Sound Processing Studio (which contains both a control room and a recording room).
These departments include:
- Management Department: Front-house reception, Public relations, internal organization
- Music Information Department: Internet site, seminars, music events, concerts
- Library - Archive - Sound Archive: Music magazines and periodicals, music literature, manuscript archive, sound recordings, scores, music research, music databases
- Publications Department: Editing and publishing of research essays, sound recordings, periodicals and scores
- Computer Department: computer support, special software development
- Studio Sound Lab: Recording studio, sound processing, acoustical studies, electro-acoustic and algorithmic composition etc.
- Experimental Lab of Musical Instruments: construction and repair of traditional music instruments, research on the development and advancement of classical instruments, development of experimental types of instruments
- Technical Lab: maintenance and repair of machinery, hardware support
Other facilities
For further support of the Institute's activities the following departments exist:
- Music library with approx. 2000 titles
- Sound library including records, CDs, sound samples etc
- Sound recording, sound processing and sound reproduction (DAT, amplifier console, speakers, sound effects, CD players, record players, samplers etc)
- Greek music archive
- DTP and score processing department
- Sound analysis and composition
- Databases in network
- Electronic laboratory for repairing hardware and developing new software
