ACTIVITIES
Our activities can be divided into the following sections:
- Research Projects
Research projects constitute the main domain of activity at the Institute. They are developed either as autonomous projects or as supportive to other activities. - Educational Activities
A variety of significant educational activities have been developed since 1993: seminars, compiling of new educational material, implementation of pilot programs in education and other music-related pedagogical research projects. - Music Documentation Centre
The Music Documentation Centre constitutes a specialized section of our activities and works for the documentation and the rescuing of the Greek Music Heritage. - Greek Music Archive
The Greek Music Archive is a result of the activities of the Music Documentation Centre; it is compiled through collaboration with other archives and collections, it is created in digital form and constitutes the largest and most complete in Greece.
- Music Information Centre
The Music Information Centre works autonomously for the provision of music information to the public, as well as with promoting Greek Music internationally. - Events
Since its inauguration in 1989, IEMA has been organizing specific concerts and tributes, sometimes thus showing the way for the creation of start-ups like the “European Music Day” or the Festival of Music Improvisation. - Conferences
The Institute has co-produced a number of conferences, whilst the organizing of the 1st Greek Convention on Music Research saw the start of a series of conferences and symposia concerning topics of interest of IEMA. - Publications
Specialized research and pedagogical publications, made either solely by the Institute, or in cooperation with other organizations. - Lectures
Music researchers have presented their work in the “IEMA Lectures Cycle” that were held in the years 1996-1999. Today anyone interested in the lectures that take place at IEMA can subscribe to our weekly newsletter.
